Profiling our staff
Paul Fulton – Manager
Paul formed Joule Logic in 2009 after a senior career in the hydro-electricity and wind energy fields. Paul has an excellent understanding of the technical and commercial issues surrounding all stages of renewables development and operation, including hydro power, solar and wind. Paul has been involved in many Australian wind farm developments and has worked extensively on renewables projects in China, India, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Achievement oriented, innovative and analytical, Paul has a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Business Administration and enjoys solving challenging problems.
Sue Marsh – Senior Environmental Consultant
Sue is an experienced environmental scientist specialising in environmental impact assessment, State and Commonwealth approvals, environmental compliance, auditing and environmental management plans. Sue demonstrates a broad range of experience in the environmental management of projects from small-scale asset upgrades to large multi-disciplinary projects of several years’ duration.
Sue has a Science degree with Honours, is an Environmental Auditor and is a member of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand.
James Hamilton – Principal Engineer
James commenced his career as an engineer with Rio Tinto in 2003 and has worked in the wind energy field since 2007. James has a vast knowledge of emerging Chinese turbine and blade technologies, coupled with a comprehensive track record of wind analysis and wind farm development across Asia, Africa and Australia.
James is a Research Associate at the University of Tasmania and is currently completing a PHD in hybrid diesel renewable energy systems. This research is being funded by the University of Tasmania, Hydro Tasmania and the United States Department of Defence (Office of Navy Research).
Rick Perrin – Energy and Environmental Planning Consultant
Rick specialises in renewable energy policy and strategy and has strong project management, analysis and report writing competencies. Rick commenced his professional career as a biologist with the Australian Antarctic Division and has worked for Queensland Parks and Wildlife, energy generators and local government.
Rick is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Planning at the University of Tasmania and has extensive local government, planning and environmental management experience. Rick is principal in managing all aspects of Joule Logic’s planning and community engagement, education and relationship management.
Brett Cuthbertson – Data Analyst
Since joining the wind energy research unit with the CSIRO in 2002 Brett has maintained an active profile supporting successful wind farm site identification, assessment and development in Australia and overseas. With over a decade of industry experience including significant contributions to atmospheric modelling, measurement and resource evaluation.
Brett oversees all aspects of resource modelling, evaluation, GIS and data analytics at Joule Logic.
Cindy Hull – Ecology and Environmental Advisor
Cindy is an environmental scientist specialising in applied ecology investigation and the management of wind farm fauna. Cindy has worked extensively with State and Commonwealth Regulators and has published a range of scientific papers and numerous reports. Since 2000 Cindy has led many effective adaptive management programs to deliver optimal research outcomes. Cindy has a broad ecological skill set and a sound understanding of scientific processes, ecology and the principles of environmental management. Cindy believes effective environmental management is dependent on a number of factors, not least being successful stakeholder management and communication.
Cindy has a PHD in Zoology and is a Research Associate at the University of Tasmania.
